Lumenis Ltd. today priced its initial public offering at $12 per share, 20% under the low end of the prior $15-$17 range set by the Israeli maker of medical lasers.
Lumenis shares, trading under the "LMNS" symbol on the NASDAQ exchange, opened up 4.2% at $12.50 today and were fetching $13.05 apiece as of about 11:20 a.m., up 8.8%.
Covidien (NYSE:COV) said it closed the buyout of Given Imaging and its PillCam imaging device for about $860 million, net of cash and investments.

DJO Global’s public reporting subsidiary posted a major increase in losses for its 4th quarter, driven primarily by a $106.6 million goodwill write-down that nearly tripled the company’s red ink.
DJO posted a 180% increase in losses on an 8% increase on sales during the quarter, as well as a 71% increase in losses and a 4% increase in sales for fiscal 2013.
