Carlsmed launches Aprevo platform for cervical fusion surgeries

Carlsmed (Nasdaq:CARL) announced today that it began the U.S. launch of its Aprevo technology platform for cervical fusion surgeries.

Aprevo expands Carlsmed’s personalized spine platform, which combines AI-driven preoperative planning with 3D-printed, patient-specific implants tailored to each patient’s anatomy and pathology. The company said it builds upon the success of its Aprevo lumbar platform.

Carlsbad, California–based Carlsmed designed the Aprevo devices to match the unique anatomical and alignment needs of each patient. The company’s proprietary AI-powered surgical planning platform and digital production system power the devices.

The company developed its AI-enabled personalized spine surgery. It already holds FDA breakthrough device designation for the Aprevo lumbar and cervical patient-specific interbody fusion devices. The implantable devices and software platforms hold FDA clearance for lumbar spine fusion. That includes anterior, lateral and transforaminal approaches.

Carlsmed announced the completion of the first successful cervical procedure using its Aprevo devices earlier this year. It also earned Medicare reimbursement for its AI-powered spine implants. These positive developments come on the heels of Carlsmed going public through an IPO in July.
