Cardinal Health
(NYSE: CAH)
announced today that its board of directors appointed Patricia A. Hemingway Hall as its new chair.
Hemingway Hall succeeds Gregory B. Kenny, effective immediately, after his retirement. Kenny joined the board in 2007 and became chair in 2018. During his time on the board, he supported the company through periods of transformation, Cardinal Health said in a news release. That includes strategic portfolio evolution and operational improvement initiatives.
“On behalf of the Board and our management team, we are deeply grateful to Greg for his leadership and lasting contributions to the Company,” said Jason Hollar, Chief Executive Officer of Cardinal Health. “We look forward to Pat’s continuation of Greg’s legacy as a steady, principled leader as we execute our strategic priorities with a focus on strong governance and long-term value creation.”
Hemingway Hall joined the board of the Dublin, Ohio-based company — one of the largest medtech companies in the world — in 2013. In her time on the board, she spent nearly seven years as chair of its Governance and Sustainability Committee.
Cardinal Health said she brings “strong institutional knowledge” of the company’s business, governance framework and strategic priorities. She also offers deep healthcare leadership experience as the former president and CEO of Health Care Service Corporation, the largest mutual health insurer in the U.S.
Hemingway Hall assumes leadership of the board at an interesting time for Cardinal Health. Midway through last year, the company enacted layoffs amid significant rising tariff impacts.
