Boston Scientific, Epic collaborate on cardiac diagnostic EHR services

November 19, 2025 By Sean Whooley

Boston Scientific Epic AuraBoston Scientific (NYSE: BSX) today announced a collaboration with Epic, a major electronic health record (EHR) software developer.

The companies plan to integrate Boston Scientific’s cardiac diagnostic services into Aura, Epic’s specialty diagnostics suite. Aura aims to bring health systems together with diagnostic labs and medical device manufacturers.

Epic is the largest U.S. electronic health records vendor, with Oracle in second place. Wisconsin-based Epic says more than 325 million people worldwide currently have an electronic record run on its software.

According to Boston Scientific, the agreement enables providers to order their cardiac diagnostic tests and receive results directly in Epic. Using Aura, they have access to a quicker, lower-cost option to integrate with Epic and access Boston Scientific cardiac diagnostic services. The company says it reduces the time and IT resources required for development.

Aura eliminates the need for the manual order of tests and data entry, enhancing workflows for providers. It also enables data-driven care decisions to support quicker treatment decisions for patients.

“Collaborating with Epic to license its Aura platform adds a quick, easy EMR integration option for providers that complements our tailored, direct integration offerings,” said Scott Olson, SVP and president, Cardiac Rhythm Management & Diagnostics, Boston Scientific. “This additional integration option will allow providers to connect to our ambulatory cardiac monitoring and diagnostics services while reducing pressure on their IT resources, simplifying their workflows and delivering a better provider experience.”

This marks the latest medtech collaboration with Epic to enhance the offerings within the Aura suite. In April, Abbott entered into a first-of-its-kind agreement to integrate data from its Libre continuous glucose monitor (CGM) systems into Epic’s Aura platform. A few months later, in July, Philips struck a deal similar to Boston Scientific’s. The Dutch medtech giant agreed to integrate cardiac ambulatory monitoring and diagnostic services into Epic Aura.
