Soin Neuroscience announced today that it sold intellectual property related to spinal cord stimulation (SCS) to Biotronik Neuro.
The companies declined to disclose financial terms for the deal.
Biotronik’s acquisition includes patents covering a range of technologies in SCS waveform design, adaptive programming and the application of AI and machine learning to neuromodulation therapy. The company intends to use the IP to inform the eventual development of a next-generation SCS program within its chronic pain portfolio.
With the IP sale, Soin Neuroscience intends to continue operating as an independent company. Its other research, clinical and business activities remain unaffected.
The acquisition follows a research collaboration inked in December 2025. In their partnership, Biotronik and Soin began evaluating novel waveforms and personalized SCS tuning approaches on the Biotronik Neuro Prospera SCS system. The companies say this laid the groundwork for the IP sale.
According to a news release, the acquisition gives Biotronik a body of IP focused on data-driven, adaptive stimulation. It hopes to support its long-term goal of more precisely matching therapy to individual patient response.
