
Franklin Lakes, New Jersey-based BD developed the advanced laser system to complete its kidney stone care portfolio for urology teams. It designed the laser to enhance efficiency, versatility and procedural workflow across urologic stone management and soft tissue procedures.
BD says the Elyra system supports consistent performance in demanding clinical environments. It’s now available in the U.S., the company said.
Elyra leverages TFL laser technology to support efficient stone dusting and reduced stone migration. Its cool-aired design offers quieter operation and a smaller footprint compared to traditional laser systems. The platform comes in two configurations (standard Elyra and Elyra Plus) for flexibility with operational needs.
Other features include an intuitive user interface, quick startup, customizable presets and an optional wireless footswitch. BD says it helps to streamline workflows in stone lithotripsy and soft tissue procedures.
BD said it recently completed its first clinical cases using the Elyra Plus TFL system at a leading medical center. The system received positive feedback from urologists and laser technicians who noted the intuitive interface and integrated safety features. BD says Elyra expands its urologic stone management portfolio to help optimize performance with an end-to-end approach.
