The Hillrom Progressa+ bed offers new technology and features that make it easier for nurses to care for patients while supporting recovery. Deerfield, Illinois-based Baxter acquired Hillrom and offerings like the Progressa+ ICU bed for $12.5 billion in December 2021.
“Our new and improved Progressa+ is a ‘true ICU bed,’ designed for the realities of critical care, where patient needs are high and clinical staff can be stretched thin,” said Julie Brewer, president, Baxter patient support systems, global surgical solutions and care communications businesses. “We asked ICU care teams how we could make their jobs easier, and then designed the next generation of our leading ICU bed with features that help address challenges, such as reducing the strain on nursing resources, lessening the risk of pressure injuries and simplifying patient positioning.”
Progressa+ features technologies that support pulmonary needs, protect skin and support early mobility protocols.
The bed provides in-bed percussion, vibration and continued lateral rotation therapies. These help reduce pulmonary complications associated with immobility. Baxter said the improved bed frame also provides easier access to the head of the bed for intubation and other procedures.
Progressa+ also features enhanced support surfaces to support optimal skin protection and wound healing. Baxter noted that it includes a new top cover to enable easier cleaning.
Used in conjunction with an integrated lift system, Progressa+ supports patient mobility protocols while minimizing clinician injury risk. Its one-button “FullChair” with sit-to-stand chair egress helps clinicians move patients safely and easily.
Baxter said it now offers Progressa+ in the U.S. It also has plans to launch it in additional markets around the world throughout the next 18 months.
