Aleph Neuro, a research lab, says it builds brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) for what it describes as “the telepathic future.” It says that it captured the highest-resolution 3D images of the brain taken from outside the skull with its technology.
The company describes its technology as capable of delivering MRI-level detail in brain imaging without drilling or using an MRI machine. Instead, the platform utilizes Butterfly Network’s Ultrasound-on-Chip technology through the Butterfly Embedded licensing and co-development program for ultrasound-enabled technologies.
According to Aleph Neuro, existing methods of brain imaging that don’t require surgery either produce blurry images or require a room-sized machine. Using Ultrasound-on-Chip technology, it says it can capture images through the skull with a contrast agent.
Next, it plans to communicate in latents, or “raw thoughts,” according to a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). The company says ultrasound can achieve the specs needed for decoding the brain, particularly with Butterfly Network’s technology.
“We believe telepathy will be as important and as natural as words and hands,” Aleph Neuro wrote. “It is perhaps the only technology with the hope of expanding human intelligence and connection like language once did.
Aleph Neuro’s launch follows the recent launch of another member of the program, Midjourney. Midjourney is developing an AI-powered medical imaging spa offering rapid whole-body, ultrasonic CT scans that it plans to open in 2027.
“Researchers like Aleph Neuro are using Butterfly’s Ultrasound-on-Chip to reimagine the capabilities of ultrasound and challenge the status quo,” said Joseph DeVivo, president, CEO and chair of Butterfly Network. “We congratulate the Aleph team on their progress.”
