The company launched its new, enhanced-design monofocal and toric IOL at the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. It says that TruPlus expands its leading Clareon portfolio by offering surgeons an enhanced IOL. It enables increased depth of focus without compromising the high-quality distance vision expected out of a monofocal IOL.
Alcon said TruPlus offers a number of differentiating features compared to Clareon Monofocal and the leading competitor IOL. Other leading IOLs in the U.S. include the Johnson & Johnson Tecnis portfolio and the Bausch + Lomb enVista lenses.
According to Alcon, TruPlus demonstrates a 3.5 letter improvement in simulated visual acuity at -1.5 diopters (66 cm) compared to Clareon Monofocal. It offers higher distance quality than Tecnis Eyhance across a range of pupil sizes and lighting conditions, the company claims. TruPlus also exceeds the ISO upper requirement for distance image quality and offers a lower glare and halo profile.
The company designed TruPlus to utilize its proprietary Opti-Balance technology in the center of the lens. This boosts light energy and slightly extends the depth of focus. Alcon says its IOL still maintains exceptional distance image quality and a wide refractive landing zone.

TruPlus was developed to address that need, while maintaining the exceptional stability and clarity that define the proven Clareon platform.”
