The collaboration implements an interface enabling AiM’s robotic platform to operate with Siemens Healthineers’ MRI systems. This interface supports the integration of AiM’s compact, MRI-compatible robotic stereotactic neurosurgery system and workflow with Siemens Healthineers’ leading Magnetom MRI scanners.
Worcester, Massachusetts-based AiM develops surgical robotic technology designed to enable surgeons to perform precise neurosurgical procedures directly within an MRI. Its platform leverages real-time intraoperative MRI coupled with robotic guidance in its neurosurgery system. It aims to ensure the precise placement of neurostimulation leads for Parkinson’s disease patients. The platform also extends to a range of cranial procedures like biopsy, tumor ablation and targeted intracranial delivery of novel therapeutics.
The company says its integration enables faster, safer and more accurate procedures while reducing patient risk and healthcare costs.
More on the collaboration between AiM Medical Robotics and Siemens Healthineers
AiM says its integration with Siemens Healthineers marks a step toward coordinated robot-MRI operation and provides a foundation for future collaboration opportunities. It hopes to explore deeper levels of integration to advance precision and efficiency in image-guided neurosurgery.
Under their agreement, AiM’s system will connect with Siemens’ Healthineers’ MRI scanners. These systems range from 1.5T to 3T and include 0.55T offerings, as well as the Magnetom Free.XL platform.
The software interface offered enables data exchange and collaborative functionality between robotics and MRI. It delivers real-time, in-bore neurosurgical precision, elevating image-guided therapies to new standards. the companies say.
“The opportunity to collaborate with a global technology leader like Siemens Healthineers further validates AiM’s technology and expands the ecosystem needed to bring next-generation precision robotics to image-guided operating suites worldwide,” said Gregory Fischer, PhD, Founder & CEO of AiM Medical Robotics. “This collaboration accelerates our roadmap toward clinical deployment and reinforces AiM’s mission to make MRI-guided neurosurgery faster, safer, and more accessible.”
