“The Adona years have been the proudest of my career,” Fahey wrote on LinkedIn today to announce his December departure. “We built something exceptional, literally from scratch. Starting from needs-finding and market assessment first principles, we had some bold ideas. To make those ideas reality, we had to solve challenges that had never been surmounted in our field. The technical risk was astonishing. Many didn’t think we could actually achieve our vision. But time after time, we delivered. The Delphi implant is an incredible piece of technology, and it works. It helps people, and I’m lucky enough to have been thanked by patients in person — perhaps the most remarkable feeling in the world.”
Fahey, Adona Medical and parent company Shifamed have not yet publicly named a new CEO. Adona Medical and Shifamed did not immediately respond to requests for more information from MassDevice, though we’ll update this post with more details when they’re available.
At least two other Shifamed portfolio companies also had CEO changes last year. Shifamed founder, President and CEO Amr Salahieh became acting CEO of Akura Medical, replacing former President and CEO Murali Srivathsa, while Shifamed Chief Business Officer Mariam Maghribi replaced Tioga Medical co-founder Mike Dineen as president and CEO.

“I’m so grateful to have been part of an elite team that accomplished so much,” Fahey continued. “We genuinely worked our asses off constantly; there was always some time-sensitive milestone just around the corner. But no one complained. People just stepped up, did their job, and did it astoundingly well. An enormous thank you to all those folks who trusted in me to steer the ship. … To the employees, the collaborators, and all who contributed in a myriad of different ways: patient care is in a better place today because of your efforts. Thank you!”
