6. Valeritas insulin delivery patch
Valeritas (NSDQ:VLRX) has the support of the American Diabetes Association with regards to its disposable insulin delivery patch, which isn’t a bad start.
The V-Go wearable insulin delivery device was among the devices considered by the association when it endorsed the use of “disposable patch-like devices” for insulin delivery in May 2019. The endorsement was made as part of the the ADA’s annual Standards of Medical Care for 2019, published in the journal Diabetes Care in the new Diabetes Technology chapter.
Valeritas’ basal-bolus insulin delivery device is designed to control blood glucose as a lightweight and fully disposable option that can be worn underneath clothing. It has FDA 510(k) clearance in the U.S.
Results released from a study in July revealed that patients using the V-Go wearable insulin delivery device needed less insulin, had lower A1c levels and reduced diabetes-related medication cost compared with patients using multiple daily injection (MDI) therapy.
