5. One Drop wireless glucose meter kit
One Drop provides another variation of glucose monitoring systems with one that utilizes artificial intelligence and is available at common department stores.
One Drop is a compact blood glucose monitor compatible with the iOS Health app and the Apple Watch. The device is connected through Bluetooth and draws a small amount of blood to measure a user’s blood glucose level that can be tracked through the Health app.
In June, the company expanded its AI-powered predictive insights to include eight-hour blood glucose forecasts for its mobile app users with Type 2 diabetes. The app also offers a personal health assistant for monitoring medication, food and physical activity, along with other health markers.
In October, the wireless glucose meter kit and supplies were made available at hundreds of Walmart stores in the U.S. Apple said in June that it was selling the device for $69.95 at a few of its physical stores. The device is also for sale through One Drop, Amazon and Best Buy.
On top of all that, in September, Bayer (ETR:BAYN) led a $40 million Series B round for One Drop, licensed its platform for treating conditions beyond diabetes and put its pharma president on the One Drop board.
