
This year, we decided to take it a step further, creating a free, downloadable report with a company-by-company breakdown of the financials, tech platforms, M&A plays, and competitive strategies shaping the next era of orthopedics.
Our roundup of the world’s largest orthopedic device companies drew on information from publicly available SEC filings, news releases, and previous MassDevice reporting — as well as direct outreach to the companies. This year, we also included privately held Arthrex by drawing on a revenue estimate from Forbes. (Arthrex declined to disclose its annual revenue.) We only included orthopedic device business revenue for conglomerates such as Johnson & Johnson, Stryker, Medtronic, and Smith+Nephew.
Johnson & Johnson MedTech, Stryker and Zimmer Biomet continue to lead the annual list of the world’s largest orthopedic device companies, but much more is going on. Here’s a peek at how the top 10 list turned out:
