Pillo: An adorable home health robot
With perhaps the most adorable product of the night, co-founder Aiden Feng introduced the audience to the intelligent home robot, Pillo.
The device stores patient’s medication and interacts with the patient, reminding them to take their medication. Pillo can answer health-related questions and connect patients with their healthcare professionals, Feng said.
Medication non-adherence creates over $300 billion in avoidable healthcare costs, he explained, and Pillo aims to get patients back on track with their daily regimens. But Feng said Pillo has a secondary purpose, as well.
“As our population gets older and lives longer, the number of patients with chronic conditions will rise and in our current system, our points of data collection are in periodic office visits and hospitalizations at which time it’s already too late.”
Pillo combines artificial intelligent, medication management and connectivity with wearables and other wireless devices to collect real-time data from patients “while they’re in their natural habitat.”
