Zoll recently announced that it opened its newest facility in Rhode Island to produce automated external defibrillator (AED) components.
The company posted on LinkedIn on June 13, announcing the grand opening of the facility in Rumford, Rhode Island. It sits at the site of a former Hasbro commercial property that Zoll bought for $18.36 million in 2022, according to the Providence Business Journal.
Chelmsford, Massachusetts-based Zoll says it produces several million electrodes for AEDs in Rhode Island each year.
“Our facilities in Rhode Island play a vital role in our mission to improve outcomes for patients and help save lives, and we are proud to be a part of the local business community,” the company posted. “Our new facility supports our continued growth and expands our manufacturing and operations capacity to better serve our customers.”
East Providence Mayor Bob DaSilva posted about the opening on Instagram, noting that the facility is a 122,000-square-foot manufacturing plant that will add hundreds of new jobs.
“Zoll has been manufacturing medical devices in Rhode Island for 35 years,” DaSilva wrote. “Their product plays a vital role in saving people’s lives who are suffering a cardiac arrest.
AEDs produced by Zoll help in response to sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). Recent news from the company includes an initiative donating 32 AEDs to youth programs.
