ZOLL Medical Corp. (NSDQ:ZOLL) won 510(k) clearance from the Food & Drug Administration for its Propaq M, a vital signs monitor that the company designed for military and air transport use.
The Billerica, Mass.-based resuscitation products maker designed the lighter M model based on the its Propaq monitor platform, but added 12-lead monitoring, a third invasive pressure channel, additional data collection, a larger display with night-vision-goggle mode and a removable battery that the company said will run all of the device’s physiological parameters for more than 7.5 hours.
The device’s development, facilitated by grants from the U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command, was a joint undertaking between the Dept. of Defense and an arrangement between Zoll and medical diagnostic equipment maker Welch Allyn, according to Zoll.
The company also won FDA clearance for its Propaq MD last month, a transport monitor and defibrillator combination that has an identical user interface, battery, power supply and monitoring attributes to the Propaq M.
