Orthopedics giant Zimmer (NYSE:ZMH) and OrthoSensor signed a co-marketing agreement pairing Zimmer’s NexGen knee systems with OrthoSensor’s Verasense technology.
Sunrise, Fla.-based OrthoSensor’s Verasense sensor assisted technology provides surgeons with “real-time data that enables evidence-based intra-operative decisions regarding component position, limb alignment and soft-tissue releases to achieve soft tissue balance and stability through a full range of motion,” according to the press release.
“While we currently lead the industry in Patient Reported Outcomes with our NexGen Knee, we know that component placement and soft-tissue balancing are critical to patient satisfaction and implant longevity," Zimmer reconstructive president Jeff McCaulley said in prepared remarks. "As such, Zimmer is committed to offering the widest array of intelligent instrumentation to assist surgeons. Our collaboration with OrthoSensor, and the ability to leverage real data in soft tissue balancing with Verasense, should allow for even more satisfied patients."
