Zargis Medical Corp. won clearance from Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration to bring its StethAssist and Cardioscan devices to market down under.
Zargis, a majority-owned subsidiary of Speedus Corp. (NSDQ:SPDE), said the system wirelessly links to an electronic stethoscope equipped with Bluetooth technology to help doctors diagnose heart murmurs.
The device also features optional telemedicine capabilities, meaning doctors could listen to patients’ heartbeats from remote locations, according to a press release.
The system was developed in conjunction with the 3M Corp. (NYSE:MMM), which along with Siemens AG (NYSE:SI) holds an equity stake in Zargis.
Early last month the company won similar clearance from Health Canada to sell the StethAssist and Cardioscan system north of the border.
