Xenter unveils new dual-sensor guidewire for TAVR procedures

Xenter today announced the recent unveiling of its dual-sensor investigational guidewire for transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR).

Draper, Utah-based Xenter shared the technology at last month’s Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) 2023 conference in San Francisco.

The first-of-its-kind wireless guidewire aims to collect an extensive range of real-time data points. It serves as an aortic regurgitation measurement (xAR) and clinical decision support tool. Xenter says it significantly enhances the prediction of paravalvular leak (PVL) during TAVR.

According to a news release, the company designed the guidewire for comprehensive data collection and analysis. It facilitates data necessary for novel AI decision-making tools. The company aims to enable better-informed clinical decisions and improve patient outcomes. The company designed its guidewire to operate seamlessly within a proprietary, wireless ecosystem in the cath lab.

Dr. William A. Gray said the system enables real-time measurement of aortic and left ventricular pressure information in a single device. The system chief of cardiovascular medicine at Mainline Healthcare in Philadelphia called it a “workhorse” device.

“We built Xenter to enable [AI] tools to be utilized with ease and accuracy using new smart/wireless medical devices that transmit real-time PI data,” said Rich Linder, Xenter chair and CEO. “Xenter is pioneering “smart” medical devices and a wireless ecosystem that eliminate the capital equipment and mobile carts that clutter hospitals throughout the world.”
