On-X Life Technologies said it’s launching Chord-X, a new mitral valve chordal repair system using the company’s proprietary sutures.
The mitral valve repair system will use pre-measured loops and adjustable sutures to repair damaged mitral valve chords, the company said.
The system will include a chordal sizer for measuring artificial mitral valve chord length, pre-measured loops designed to standardize artificial chord replacement and an adjustable suture system for cases in which chordal length needs to be customized,On-X said.
"We are pleased to provide surgeons with innovative tools designed to help make mitral valve chordal replacement more reproducible and save OR time. We are appreciative of the excellent team of surgeons who have helped design this product and for our excellent product development team which produced this innovation,” CEO Clyde Baker said in a press release.
“The Chord-X technology helps simplify and standardize chordal replacement during mitral valve repair. This assists in reducing OR time for the patient,” Cleveland Clinic’s Dr. Marc Gillinov said in a prepared statement.
The Chord-X system was first revealed at the American Assn. of Thoracic Surgeons annual meeting in Seattle and at the AATS Mitral Conclave Meeting in New York in April.
