Williams to serve as worldwide controller for Quintiles

Quintiles Names Charles Williams to Serve as Worldwide Controller

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Quintiles has named Charles Williams to serve as its worldwide controller within the company’s finance organization.

A 34-year veteran of corporate finance and accounting, Williams reports directly to Chief Financial Officer Kevin Gordon.

Prior to joining Quintiles, Williams served as corporate controller and chief accounting officer for Teleflex Incorporated, a $2 billion, publicly traded, global manufacturer of medical devices based in Limerick, Pennsylvania. At Teleflex, Williams led all accounting, controllership, consolidations and financial reporting activities. There, he directed a finance organization of 75 people, including seven direct reports.

In his service with Teleflex, Williams navigated the company through the many complex accounting and reporting requirements encountered during a series of acquisitions, divestitures and financing transactions involved in Teleflex’s transformation from a diversified commercial/medical device company into a purely medical device company. Among other accomplishments, he streamlined financial procedures which shortened Teleflex’s monthly closing process significantly while improving the accuracy and relevance of the data reported.

Before his work with Teleflex, Williams worked a combined 20 years in Singapore, France, the U.K and United States in increasingly senior finance positions with Carrier Corporation, an $11 billion global leader in residential and commercial heating and air conditioning equipment, and Uniroyal Chemical Company, a multinational specialty chemical company.

Williams earned his bachelor of science degree in accounting from Bentley College in Massachusetts and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

“Charlie brings a diverse, international financial background and experience to Quintiles,” said Chief Financial Officer Kevin Gordon. “He has an extensive background in financial analysis, reporting regulations, acquisition evaluation and integration as well as financial process improvements among his other talents.

“Charlie has a track record of partnering with business leaders in multinational companies. I worked with him personally at Teleflex and I am confident he will bring the same enthusiasm, integrity and wise counsel to Quintiles for which he has become known.”
