Wadsworth Medical Technologies is bringing the manufacture and distribution of its sutureless wound closure system into the Bay State.
The Westborough, Mass.-based company said Haverhill’s Baril Corp. and G&F Industries of Sturbridge will produce and distribute its DermaLOC non-invasive, needle-free wound closure system.
President and CEO Andrew Fox called the decision to bring its business into the Commonwealth a "no-brainer," given the state’s robust support network for small life science companies.
Wadsworth’s system uses next-generation adhesives to apply tension to skin wounds to close them without anesthesia or sutures. In April 2009, the company won a $400,000 “accelerator” loan from the Mass. Life Sciences Center and landed pre-market approval from the Food & Drug Administration to market the DermaLOC system in September 2009.
