Unilife Corp. (NSDQ:UNIS) announced a two-year deal with Premiere Inc. to supply the U.S. group purchasing organization with its Unitract 1mL safety syringes.
The contract calls for York, Pa.-based Unilife to help stock Premiere’s more than 76,000 health care sites nationwide.
"In addition to being one of the largest GPOs in the U.S., Premier is also a leading national advocate for injection safety," Alan Shortall, Unilife CEO said in prepared remarks.

"Despite the widespread conversion of U.S. health care facilities to the mandatory use of needlestick prevention products, health care workers continue to remain at risk of harm from many types of conventional safety syringe technologies," Shortall added.
Premier has been in a contract-signing frenzy since Medtronic Inc.’s (NYSE:MDT) headline-making, Wall Street-pleasing decision to cut several contracts worth an estimated $2 billion a year for its cardiovascular and orthopedic products with Irving, Texas-based GPO Novation in February.
Premier signed contracts earlier this year with med-tech giant Covidien (NYSE:COV), Medline Industries, and Siemens AG (NYSE:SI).
