
U.K. regulators OK $2B Steris merger with Synergy Health

Anti-trust regulators in the U.K. approved the proposed $2 billion inversion merger between Steris and Synergy Health, even as U.S. regulators seek more information on the deal.
Steris, an Ohio-based surgical and critical care company, revealed in a recent regulatory filing that the U.K. Competition & Markets Authority “unconditionally cleared the proposed combination.” Read more
Hospira beats earnings forecasts for Q4, 2014

Pfizer may be buying Hospira in a $15 billion mega-deal announced earlier in February, but the maker of generic injectable drugs and infusion pumps did moderately well at the end of 2014 on its own.
“Our results speak to the significant progress we made – as well as the multiple milestones we achieved – in our key growth areas of generic injectables, biosimilars and devices,” CEO Michael Ball said in prepared remarks. Read more
U.K. regulators pass on probe of Zoll Medical's Philips InnerCool buy

Anti-trust authorities in the U.K. this month declined to open a probe into Zoll Medical’s acquisition of Philips’ InnerCool business and its catheter-based endovascular and surface temperature management technologies.
Zoll said last Nov. 17 that it agreed to buy the InnerCool assets for an undisclosed amount. The U.K.’s Competition & Market’s Authority said it received a complaint about the merger Dec. 8 and undertook an “own-initiative assessment” of the deal Dec. 12. Read more
William Demant in talks to buy French hearing aid retailer Audika

Danish hearing aid maker William Demant has opened talks to buy French retailer Audika in a deal that would value the company at €168 million ($191 million).
A takeover would complement a long-standing supply partnership between the 2 companies and give William Demant a more direct retail link to customers. Read more
