TriReme Medical landed a regulatory win in Japan with Shonin approval of its Glider PTCA catheter.
TriReme said it plans to begin distribution of the torqueable catheter through its Japanese manufacturing partner, Century Medical.
Pleasanton, Calif.- and Singapore-based TriReme said the Glider device is designed for difficult coronary surgical cases, such as bifurcations and highly stenosed lesions.
"We are proud to receive this regulatory approval for our highly differentiated Glider PTCA catheter," said TriReme CEO Eitan Konstantino in prepared remarks. “We are looking forward to working closely with our partner, CMI. This milestone represents yet another concrete step in our strategic focus on the important Asian markets.”
TriReme Medical recently inked a distribution deal in China with Weihai Weigao Medical Devices, which the company is touting as part of its focus on emerging markets in Asia.
In 2012, the company announced an $18 million funding round, backed largely by Luminor Capital of Singapore.
