California-based TriReme Medical announced this week that the company and its partner Century Medical received Japanese regulatory approval for the GliderXtreme PTA catheter, designed to treat blockages in the arteries.
The new win marks the duo’s 2nd Japanese clearance this year, following Shonin approval in April for the Glider torqueable catheter.
The new approval further expands TriReme’s potential reach in the growing peripheral artery disease treatment market in Asia, the company said.
"GliderXtreme was custom designed to meet the clinical needs and exacting standards of the Japanese marketplace," president & CEO Eitan Konstantino said in prepared remarks. "This milestone represents yet another step in the Asia-focused expansion strategy of TriReme."
