Terumo Corp. (TYO:4543) sat on both sides of the table in inking a pair of distribution deals with CareFusion (NYSE:CFN) and Nonin Medical.
CareFusion will co-brand, market and distribute Terumo’s SurFlash catheters in the U.S. as part of an exclusive, 8-year deal aimed at the acute care market, according to a press release.
“CareFusion’s world-class clinical and commercial presence in acute care infusion will accelerate the U.S. market impact of these safety products faster than Terumo might otherwise achieve. The synergies are clear,” Terumo Medical president & CEO Hideo Arase said in prepared remarks.
The 2nd, multi-year deal will see Terumo Europe Cardiovascular Systems distribute Nonin’s SenSmart universal oximetry system in the U.K. and Ireland.
“Terumo UK is extremely excited about this collaboration with Nonin Medical and the opportunity it provides to both our current and new customers by adding their state-of-the-art regional oximetry to our current range of inline patient monitoring technologies. We believe that this new addition to our product portfolio will be seen as a further indication of our commitment to provide the latest technology available to the UK cardiovascular market,” Terumo UK branch manager Graham Walker said in prepared remarks.
Terumo settled a patent infringement case with Vascular Solutions (NSDQ:VASC) for $812,000 back in October 2013.
