Teleflex (NYSE:TFX) made another move to expand its airway management portfolio with the acquisition of Ultimate Medical for an undisclosed amount. Ultimate Medical’s Cuff Pilot is a single-use device that provides continuous pressure readings during airway management.
Teleflex said the cuff can be configured to work alongside laryngeal mask products the company acquired in the buyout of Singapore-based mask-maker LMA International last year.
Teleflex has since 2010 been working with Ultimate to integrate the cuff pressure technology and will continue to expand LMA’s line to include silicone masks and other products, according to a statement.
The $276 million purchase of LMA International in 2012 brought the company’s branded laryngeal mask supraglottic airway and its Intavent Direct Ltd. businesses under the Teleflex umbrella.
"The acquisition of Ultimate Medical was a logical step after we acquired The Laryngeal Mask Company and its affiliates last year," Liam Kelly, executive VP of International said in prepared remarks. "This acquisition provides Teleflex with additional innovative, and cost-effective, airway management options for our customers and underscores our commitment to leadership in airway management medical devices."
The Limerick, Pa.-based medical device company recently released Q4 earnings, which didn’t bode well on Wall Street despite beating expectations and confirming sales and profit guidance for the rest of the year.
