MASSDEVICE ON CALL — Health equipment giant Invacare Corp. (NYSE:IVC) isn’t getting much bang for its political buck, according to chairman Malachi Mixon.
The company has spent nearly $8 million on lobbying efforts since 2005 and Mixon and his wife have independently donated more than $500,000 during that time, but Invacare hasn’t seen many decisions sway in its favor.
Covidien Plc. (NYSE:COV) announced a new agreement for a five year $1.5 billion senior unsecured revolving credit facility, secured through subsidiary Covidien International Finance S.A.
The new agreement replaces a prior five-year senior credit facility that was slated to mature in April 2012, and the funds will be allocated for general corporate purposes, including working capital and capital expenditures.
Allezoe Medical Holdings (OTC:ALZM) said its Organ Transport Systems subsidiary is preparing for clinical trials of the LifeCradle for preserving donated hearts before transplant.
The company, based in the Philippines, bought OTS in January. The move puts it on a collision course with TransMedics Inc., an Andover, Mass.-based which also has been developing an organ transport system.
