J&J unit completes SterilMed acquisition | Acquisitions Roundup
Johnson & Johnson’s (NYSE:JNJ) Ethicon Endo-Surgery division finished its acquisition of Minnesota-based medical device reprocessor SterilMed Inc for an undisclosed amount.
SterilMed reprocesses medical devices and provides equipment repair and pre-owned equipment sales services. Johnson & Johnson said it plans to keep the SterilMed brand running as it integrates the business into the EES segment.
Maquet inks GPO deal with Premier
Getinge Group (STO:GETI B) subsidiary Maquet Cardiovascular inked a three-year contract with U.S. group purchasing organization Premier Healthcare Alliance for its intra-aortic balloon pumps.
The contract includes Maquet’s CS300 product line, as well as its Mega, Sensation, and Linear catheters used to treat acute heart failure, irregular heart rhythms and other cardiac problems.
Maquet’s Sensation Plus aortic balloon catheter won FDA approval and CE Mark clearance late last month.
Brainsway wins Israeli nod for deep-brain stimulation device to treat depression | Regulatory Roundup
Brainsway Ltd.’s (PINK:BRSYF) transcranial magnetic stimulation device won Israeli Ministry of Health approval to treat major depression, bipolar disorder and negative impairment in schizophrenia patients.
The approval clears Jerusalem-based Brainsway to sell the non-invasive TMS device, which delivers brief magnetic pulses to the brain, to four medical centers specializing in mental disorders.

Hospital purchasing organization Premier Inc. announced a fifth contract this week with news that the Charlotte, N.C.-based GPO would begin providing creatinine hand-held analyzers to certain levels of its membership.
The devices, which are used to assess renal function at bedside, are developed by Nova Biomedical Corp. of Waltham, Mass.

Irving, Texas-based Novation signed one-year contracts with GE Healthcare, Siemens AG (NYSE:SI), Philips Healthcare, Fujifilm Medical Systems and a handful of others who signed on to sell radiography and molecular imaging equipment and accessories through the bulk purchaser.
