Covidien acquires Sapheon and its VenaSeal varicose vein treatment
Sapheon wins Canadian approval for medical adhesive
Sapheon secured approval from Health Canada for its VenaSeal Sapheon closure system, used in the treatment of varicose veins.
Morrisville, N.C.-based Sapheon develops treatments for vascular disease, its flagship product being the VenaSeal, a medical adhesive which seals blood vessels using a special glue. The company is currently working towards getting pre-market approval from the U.S. FDA.
Sapheon nabs $3.6M in debt round
Sapheon raised $3.6 million of a hoped-for $10 million in a convertible debt offering it plans to use as working capital, according to a regulatory filing.
Forty-nine unnamed investors participated in the round for Morrisville, N.C.-based Sapheon, which makes the VenaSeal device for treating varicose veins, according to the filing.
Sapheon files 1st PMA module for VenaSeal Sapheon varicose vein device
Sapheon Inc. said it’s taken the 1st step toward getting its VenaSeal Sapheon varicose vein device on the U.S. market, filing the 1st module in its pre-market approval application with the FDA.
"The submission places Sapheon on track for timely FDA review and expected product launch in the 1st half of 2015," according to a press release.
Calgary Scientific’s iPhone app receives FDA clearance | Regulatory Roundup
Calgary Scientific’s ResolutionMD mobile got a green light from the FDA for viewing diagnostic images on iPhones and iPads.
The ResolutionMD mobile app was built from existing ResolutionMD software, which recieved FDA clearance in 2006. The app already has the greenlight from Canada’s regulatory body, Health Canada and has a CE Mark for distribution in Europe.
