MASSDEVICE ON CALL — Sotera Wireless this month touted FDA clearance for a new feature of its ViSi Mobile continuous non-invasive blood pressure system, now able to monitor patients without the use of a catheter or blood pressure cuff.

Amulyte is developing an emergency response system for senior citizens, aiming to lengthen the broadcast range for emergency medical alert devices, by using cellular systems, GPS, and Wi-Fi. Designed to work from virtually anywhere, the Amulyte sends a message to directly alert family members quickly, in case of an emergency.

Verizon makes a move into healthcare
Verizon made its 1st move in the healthcare market, announcing FDA clearance of its remote patient monitoring medical device.
The device, called Converged Health Management, is system designed to keep tabs on patients remotely, which the broadband wireless provider said is hosted in a HIPAA-compliant cloud.
The device links up different biometric devices that the patient can wear at home, in care settings or during their daily lives.
