Practice Fusion Inc. added $23 million to its coffers as the company closed its Series B round.
The round was lead by Founders Fund, whose managing partner Peter Thiel was the first investor in Facebook.
Practice Fusion may not have the same implications for societal change as Founders’ most famous investment, but its electronic medical record system is adding users at a rate that’s faster than Facebook’s.

Electronic medical record firm Practice Fusion Inc. promoted former PayPal Inc. executive Jason Portnoy to be the company’s CFO.
Portnoy was the CFO of Palo Alto-based information analytics firm Palantir Technologies Inc. before joining Practice Fusion in November as vice president of finance.

The CDC is collaborating with GE Healthcare to test an electronic medical record-based health alert system for doctors, the company said.

“I was really going all in,” the 34-year-old CEO told MassDevice.
Howard might have made a smart bet. According to Practice Fusion, the company has the fastest-growing user base of any electronic medical record company in the country, at 40,000 members. Its offering is free for physicians, using a largely advertising-based business model.
