Neoprobe no more? Neoprobe sells device arm and name to Devicor for up to $50 million | Acquisitions roundup

Cancer diagnostics firm Neoprobe Corp. (NYSE Amex:NEOP) gave up more than its radiation detection arm in a recent deal with Devicor Medical Products Inc.; it gave up its name.

The deal, worth $30 million up front and up to $20 million in royalties over the next six years, transforms Dublin, Ohio-based Neoprobe into a pure player radiopharmaceutical company, complete with a new identity.

Orthopedic company Symmetry Medical (NYSE:SMA) signed a definitive agreement to acquire Olsen Medical the terms of which were not disclosed. 

Olsen manufactures single-use and reusable forceps, cords, electrosurgical pens/pencils, electrodes and accessories sold primarily in the U.S. and internationally through distributors.

Fresenius lands two dialysis acquisitions for $2.1 billion | Acquisitions roundup

Fresenius Medical Care AG (NYSE:FMS) had an active day on the M&A trail, announcing two deals worth a combined $2.1 billion that should bolster the company’s presence in the U.S.

The German dialysis giant, which houses its U.S. headquarters in Waltham, Mass., said it will pay $1.7 billion to acquire Liberty Dialysis Holdings Inc., a privately held company out of Mercer Island, Washington, which was owned by two private equity firms KRG Capital Partners and Bain Capital.
