SonoSite CFO resigns, makes $3M | Personnel Moves

SonoSite (NSDQ:SONO) CFO Marcus Smith stands to pull down more than $3 million now that he’s retired from the Bothell, Wash.-based ultrasound device maker.

The company said Smith’s resignation, which went into effect yesterday, was to pursue other opportunities.

The former Philips Medical Systems exec will end up with more than $3 million in the bank after he receives all of his separation benefits, according to a company filing with the SEC.

Boston Scientific Corp. (NYSE:BSX) COO Samuel Leno announced his retirement as executive VP and chief operating officer after three years with med-tech giant.

Leno made the announcement internally on Friday, Oct. 28, according to documents filed with the SEC.

Leno joined Boston Scientific in June 2007 as executive VP of finance and information systems and CFO. In March 2010, he was appointed executive VP and COO.

Merit to increase share count by 25 percent in stock split | Funding roundup

Merit Medical Systems Inc. (NSDQ:MMSI) shareholders will soon get a 25 percent boost in the number of shares they own in the company after its board approved a 5-for-4 forward stock split, the company said today.

The split, which the company scheduled after market close on May 5, also corresponds to a proportionate reduction in equity and cash value per share. Boards often split their companies’ stock to make shares more affordable.

After 12 years, Medtronic Inc.’s (NYSE:MDT) Mosaic bioprosthetic heart valves are still working, according to a study published online in The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery.

The Minneapolis-based medical device giant touted the study that evaluated the performance of its Mosaic valve in patients who had aortic valve replacement (AVR) and mitral valve replacement (MVR).

Pressure BioSciences boosts Q3 sales, cuts losses
Pressure BioSciences Inc. (NSDQ:PBIO) reported a loss of $693,000, or 26 cents per share, on revenue of $372,000 during the three months ended Sept. 30. That compares with losses of about $776,000, or 35 cents per share, on revenue of $317,427 during the same period last year.
