Smith & Nephew (NYSE:SNN) won a nod from the FDA for its Pico negative-pressure wound therapy system.
The British orthopedics giant’s wound care division said the FDA cleared the device for use in the home and in hospitals. It’s already on the market in Europe, Canada and Australia, according to a press release.
St. Jude Medical Inc. (NYSE:STJ) enrolled the first patient into its pan-European study of early interventions of irregular heartbeat.
St. Jude can enroll more than 3,000 patients across 200 centers in Europe, including locations in Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
Taris Biomedical Inc. drummed up $18.3 million in its latest funding round.
Lexington, Mass.-based company said the equity-based B round will support its lidocaine delivery technology developed at MIT to treat bladder conditions.
Third Rock Ventures, a new backer for the company, led the round, and previous investors Flagship Ventures, Flybridge Capital Partners and Polaris Venture Partners also participated in the financing.
