Simbionix USA Corp. acquired the Arthro VR arthroscopic training simulator line from Spain’s GMV for an undisclosed amount.
The deal broadens Simbionix’s footprint in the orthopedic training arena. The Arthro VR features a line of simulated procedures using fiberglass limb replicas, 3D images and haptic sensation.

SonoSite CFO resigns, makes $3M | Personnel Moves
SonoSite (NSDQ:SONO) CFO Marcus Smith stands to pull down more than $3 million now that he’s retired from the Bothell, Wash.-based ultrasound device maker.
The company said Smith’s resignation, which went into effect yesterday, was to pursue other opportunities.
The former Philips Medical Systems exec will end up with more than $3 million in the bank after he receives all of his separation benefits, according to a company filing with the SEC.
GPOs: Premier touts new contract
GPO goliath Premier healthcare alliance inked a new deal with North Billerica, Mass.-based Lantheus Medical Imaging Inc. for its cardiac ultrasound contrast media.
The contract is another in a slew of vocal supply deals by the GPO giant.
The new agreement, effective December 1, 2011, includes Lantheus’s Definity ultrasound contrast agent and Ablavar magnetic resonance angiography imaging agent.
DFINE, American Scientific and Z-Medica tout new government contracts
Group purchasing organizations Premier and Amerinet inked supply deals with Z-Medica and American Scientific, respectively, and DFINE landed a five-year U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs supply contract.
Wallingford, Conn.-based hemostatic product maker Z-Medica scored a three-year contract with GPO superpower Premier Healthcare Alliance for its QuikClot interventional products to control bleeding at access sites in catheterization laboratories and interventional radiology departments. The agreement is effective through the end of October 2014.
Lantheus Medical Imaging inks GPO deal with Premier
Lantheus Medical Imaging Inc. inked a three-year deal with hospital group purchasing organization Premier Healthcare Alliance for its Definity ultrasound contrast agent and Ablavar magnetic resonance angiography imaging agent.
The contract calls for the diagnostic imaging agent company to help stock Premiere’s more than 76,000 health care sites nationwide.
