Switzerland-based insulin delivery devices maker CeQur named medtech veteran Douglas Lawrence its new CEO, replacing James Peterson.
Lawrence has spent more than 25 years in the medical device industry, most recently as vice president of the insulin injection business at Becton, Dickinson’s (NYSE:BDX) diabetes arm.

Kinetic Concepts touts tissue injector acquisition
Kinetic Concepts sister company LifeCell this week announced the acquisition of fat-injection devices from California medtech group TauTona.
LifeCell hopes to use the deal, the details of which were not disclosed, to expand its reconstructive and cosmetic portfolio with the fat grafting technology.
GPO: KCI lands nod from Novation
Kinetic Concepts’ V.A.C. Ulta therapy and Prevena incision management system were awarded Novation’s "Innovative Technology" designation, putting the devices in an elite category within the group purchasing organization’s catalog.
Novation, which represents close to 100,000 healthcare providers, awarded the designations at its annual Innovative Technology Expo, where products were evaluated and reviewed by hospital member-led councils.

Kinetic Concepts wins FDA OK for new wound therapy device
Kinetic Concepts Inc. said it won 510(k) clearance from the FDA for a new negative-pressure wound therapy device, the V.A.C.Via, saying it plans to have it on the market in early December.
The V.A.C.Via is a portable wound care system featuring a diaphragm pump for faster draw down, longer battery life and a higher leak rate threshold, according to a press release.
Kinetic Concepts slips in Q3, losses widen for Systagenix, LifeCell triad
Sales took a minor hit for Kinetic Concepts during its 3rd quarter 2013, reporting as part of the Centaur Guernsey companies which now includes both LifeCell and Systagenix.
