Medtronic’s scoliosis screw gets a green light from the FDA | Regulatory Roundup
Medtronic Inc. (NYSE:MDT) won 510(k) clearance from the FDA for a pedicle screw designed to treat adolescent idiopathic scoliosis.
The Twin Cities medical device colossus said the FDA’s Center for Devices & Radiological Health gave the nod to its TSRH Spiral system pedicle screw. It’s the second Medtronic AIS treatment to land FDA clearance.
AIS is the most common pediatric spine condition, affecting nearly one million U.S. adolescents, according to the company.

Stryker readies $750M notes offering | Wall Street Beat
Stryker Corp. (NYSE:SYK) is readying a $750 million debt offering of five-year senior notes, little more than a week after inking a $135 million deal to acquire Concentric Medical Inc.
The Kalamazoo, Mich.-based orthopedics giant issued another massive round of debt notes early last year, offering $500 million in 5-year notes and $500 million in 10-year notes.
DePuy hip lawsuits keep piling up, more than 350 filed in August

More than 350 cases were filed in an Ohio court this month alone, all of them directly tied to a case undergoing pre-trial proceedings in the Northern District of Ohio.
Allergan beats and raises on 14 percent boost in sales | Earnings Roundup
Allergan Inc. (NYSE:AGN) touted a strong quarter on the back on growing sales.
The Irvine, Calif.-based company saw strong growth in revenue in the three months ended June 30, posting $1.4 billion in sales, which amounts to a 14 percent increase over $1.2 billion in sales reporting during the same time last year.
Device sales jumped 12 percent to $245 million for the quarter, compared to $219 million in Q2 2010.
