Boston Scientific hails results from CRT defibrillator study | Research roundup
Cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillators may be more effective on women than men, according to research sponsored by Boston Scientific Corp. (NYSE:BSX).
An article on the findings published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology Foundation reported that women with the CRT-D devices experienced a 70 percent reduction in heart failure events compared to a 35 percent reduction for men.
Concentric wins Japanese coverage for its Merci stroke treatment
The Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare added Concentric Medical Inc.’s Merci Retriever to its list of covered products and treatments for ischemic stroke.
The Mountain View, Calif.-based neuro-interventional product maker claims to be the first company to offer a device treatment for stroke patients in Japan. Its Retriever device is comprised of a catheter-based system that doctors use to remove blood clots from the brains of ischemic stroke patients.
