Synthes still looks like a good bet | Earnings Roundup

Synthes

While two mega-suitors battled over Synthes, the Swiss medical giant was busy boosting sales and reporting health growth in earnings.

Synthes saw 11 percent growth in revenues during the three months ended June 30, posting $992 million in sales compared to $892 million during the same period last year.

While the company doesn’t break down its financials further for the quarter, its six-month report shows 7 percent growth in earnings to $454 million, or $3.83 per diluted share, compared to $425 million, or $3.58 per diluted share during the first half of 2010.

CardioNet closes Biotel buyout

CardioNet Inc. (NSDQ:BEAT) closed its acquisition of Eagan, Minn.-based Biotel Inc. (OTC:BTEL).

The Conshohocken, Pa.-based wireless cardiac device maker picked up Biotel for $4.06 per share, for an aggregate purchase price of roughly $11.6 million, according to CardioNet.

CardioNet beats shareholder lawsuit

CardioNet Inc. (NSDQ:BEAT) won a lawsuit filed against it by shareholders last year, accusing the mobile cardiac monitoring firm of misleading investors about Medicare reimbursement.

Judge Stewart Dalzell of the U.S. District Court for Eastern Pennsylvania granted Conshohocken, Pa.-based CardioNet’s move to dismiss the case August 10, calling on each aprty to bear its own legal costs.

CardioNet swings to Q4 losses

CardioNet Inc. (NSDQ:BEAT) posted fourth-quarter sales of $33.3 million for the three months ended Dec. 31, 2009, down 3.3 percent compared with $34.4 million during the same period in 2008. Net losses were $15.9 million, compared with net income of $6.9 million during Q4 2008:
