Mobile health company AirStrip landed a major contract to provide interoperability solutions to MedStar Health, the largest healthcare provider in Maryland the Washington D.C. region.

MASSDEVICE ON CALL — AirStrip Technologies CEO Alan Portela said that the mobile patient monitoring software company is taking notice of Microsoft’s new initiative to build its app market for the Surface tablets.
Microsoft’s new design program, called AppsForSurface, is a chance for AirStrip to take its cardiology and obstetrics apps to the mobile Windows world, allowing physicians access on desktops and PCs, the company reported.

AirStrip 1, the electronic data management system designed to link disparate medical technologies, launched last week with co-developer Dignity Health installing the system at 2 of its member hospitals in Arizona.
Dignity Health, hoping to ease compliance with ACO regulations, increase market share and expand clinical setting with mobile data access, rolled out the Air-Strip 1 system at the Chandler Regional Medical Center and Mercy Gilbert medical Center, according to a release.

Legal: Airstrip sues over iPhone patient monitoring patents

Mobile health company AirStrip Technologies filed a lawsuit this week against mVisum over recently issued patents for remote patient data monitoring on iPhones, iPads and other smartphones.
AirStrip in late August won the patents in question, which detail the process of “mobilizing” physiologic data for smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices.
Rival mVisum also develops mobile solutions for receiving, viewing and responding to patient data, including EKGs, alarms and MRIs, among others.
