Synaptive Medical this week said it appointed Marc Buntaine as CEO.
Buntaine has more than 25 years of experience in the medical equipment industry. Prior to joining the company, he was executive VP of sales and marketing at Mobius Imaging, which was later acquired by Stryker. He was also the cofounder of Mevion Medical Systems and Surgical Navigation Technologies, which was later sold to Medtronic.
“We are delighted to welcome Marc during this exciting time of growth at Synaptive,” president and cofounder Cameron Piron said in a news release. “Marc brings to the company an impressive background with nearly 30 years experience in launching and marketing neurosurgery products. With Marc’s expertise, I believe we will be able to further extend the capabilities and access of our robotically controlled surgical equipment and diagnostics.”
Buntaine has also held a number of leadership roles at Elekta, Bain and Company and Cummins Engine Company.
“I am truly inspired by the leadership position Synaptive has been able to achieve in the robotic surgical space. Today, advances in robotic technologies are transforming how surgeons and healthcare professionals deliver care to patients in critical need of cutting-edge solutions. I am eager to leverage my past experience in helping Synaptive achieve its next evolution as a company and look forward to many successful years of growth ahead,” Buntaine said.
