Stryker (NYSE:SYK) said today it won FDA 510(k) clearance for its MultiGen 2 radiofrequency energy generator designed for RF ablation procedures.
The newly cleared MultiGen 2 generator is designed with double the industry standard for power to achieve its target temperature faster with fewer errors and increased reliability and efficiency, the Kalamazoo, Mich.-based company said.
“The next generation of radiofrequency ablation has arrived. The MultiGen 2 RF Generator provides physicians with control and confidence, making radiofrequency ablation more efficient and reliable than ever before,” brand manager Brad Wallace said in a prepared statement.
The device allows physicians to physicians to create strip lesions without removing electrodes, resolve errors without stopping procedures and can be activated with a single button push, Stryker said.
Last month, Stryker said it agreed to pay $700 million to acquire Novadaq Technologies (TSE:NVDQ) and its line of fluorescence imaging technology.
