Michael Mogul, the head of Stryker Corp.’s (NYSE:SYK) $4-billion-plus orthopedics division, is off to greener pastures: The corner office at DJO Global Inc.
Mogul, 46, was with Stryker for most of his professional life. He joined the Kalamzaoo, Mich.-based medical device giant in 1989 when he was just 24 years old and worked his way up to vice president of sales for the ortho division by 1994. He was named group president of Stryker’s backbone ortho section in September 2009.
Mogul will take his new position at Vista, Calif.-based DJO June 13, replacing Lee Cross (who will step up into a position as chairman).

DJO, founded in 1978 as DonJoy Inc., brought in just under $966 million in sales in 2010 but posted net losses of $52 million. The company has about
4,000 employees around the globe and makes a diverse array of orthopedic rehabilitation products used by physical therapists and rehabilitation centers.
Stryker named neurotechnology and spine group president Kevin Lobo to run the orthopedics division, which brought in just over $4.3 billion last year.

Abiomed Inc. (NSDQ:ABMD) named Paul Thomas to its board of directors. Thomas, founder and CEO of moelcular assay developer Roka Bioscience, is also a director of Orthovita Inc. (NSDQ:VITA) and was chairman, president and CEO of LifeCell Corp before its merger into Kinetic Concepts Inc. (NYSE:KCI) in 2008. His resume also includes a 15-year stint with now-GE subsidiary Ohmeda.
