California device maker Spiracur won reimbursement coverage from insurance giant Health Care Services Corp., covering the SNaP wound care system.
HCSC is one of the largest insurance providers in the U.S., operating through Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans in Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas, as well as through Dearborn National. Altogether the coverage applies to some 14 million members, according to a press release.
"Spiracur now has more commercial covered lives, at just over 88 million, compared to our Government covered lives, which is nearly 87 million and made up of Medicare, the VA, Federal Employee Health Benefit Plans and Indian Health Services," Spiracur president & CEO Chris Fashek said in prepared remarks. "As a result, Spiracur’s SNaP System is now reimbursed in all 50 states, with over 175 million covered lives."
The SNaP device is a disposable negative pressure wound therapy system for treating both acute and chronic wounds.
