SonoSite (NSDQ: SONO) said it’s replacing retiring CFO Marcus Smith with Anil Amlani, head of its VisualSonics subsidiary.
Smith’s last day as the ultrasound device maker’s top financial mind is today; he’s slated to stay on at the Bothell, Wash.-based company until Jan. 5, according to a press release.
Smith had been with SonoSite since 2007, according to the release.

A seasoned corporate operator, Amlani has logged 11 years financial chief at various companies, according to SonoSite president & CEO Kevin Goodwin, including a 5-year stint as president & CEO of VisualSonics before SonoSite’s summer 2010 buyout of the ultrasound device maker.
"Anil is a seasoned executive and operator, and is an ideal successor to serve as SonoSite’s new CFO," Goodwin said in prepared remarks. "Anil has led our VisualSonics business before and after the acquisition in June 2010. His broad experience base and global perspective will position SonoSite well."
SonoSite, which paid $71 million for VisualSonics, found itself on the other end of the equation with a nearly $1 billion offer from Fujifilm (TSE:4901) last month.
