Siemens taps Abbott’s Pacitti for North American healthcare biz | Personnel Moves

MassDevice.com Personnel MovesSiemens (NYSE:SI) said it lured Abbott (NYSE:ABT) executive David Pacitti to lead its North American Healthcare business, succeeding Dr. Gregory Sorensen.

Siemens Healthcare made Pacitti, whose resume includes a 14-year spell at Guidant, president of Siemens Medical Solutions USA and head of its North America regional organization effective Oct. 19.

“David Pacitti’s leadership experience at Abbott and his deep healthcare industry experience will greatly benefit Siemens as we look to strengthen our vision for the Healthcare business,” Siemens Healthcare CEO Bernd Montag said in prepared remarks. “I am honored to welcome him to Siemens Healthcare.”

Pacitti was Abbott Vascular’s senior vice president of U.S. sales, marketing & operations for the past 2 years. He was VP of Abbott’s commercial operations from 2009 to 2013, Siemens said.

 ICU Medical founder Lopez bows out of R&D role
ICU Medical (NSDQ:ICUI) said founder Dr. George Lopez quit his position in its R&D department effective Sept. 30. Lopez, who is still a member of the company’s board, will receive more than $1.8 million in monthly payments until the end of 2020 and other benefits, ICU Medical said.

 Cardica replaces co-founder Hausen with ex-Pivot Medical CEO Nikolchev, delays annual meeting
Cardica said it named ex-Pivot Medical CEO Julian Nikolchev to be its new CEO, replacing co-founder Dr. Bernard Hausen, who announced his plan to step down in August. Cardica also said that Nikolchev’s appointment means the delay of its annual meeting.
