The appointment of Seabra, the company’s current head of Enterprise Services, goes into effect on Oct. 1, 2026. He succeeds John Kowal.
Kowal, who had more than 25 years of commercial and general management in the healthcare sector, previously served as president of the Americas for Varian, Siemens Healthineers’ oncology-focused division acquired in 2021.
“We would like to thank John for his many years of successful service and outstanding commitment to Siemens Healthineers, first within our Varian business and later as president and head of our Americas business,” said Darleen Caron, member of the managing board at Siemens Healthineers with responsibility for the Americas and chief human resources officer. “We wish him all the very best for his next chapter, both professionally and personally.”
The change comes as Siemens Healthineers undergoes a shift following Siemens’ announcement that it planned to deconsolidate its remaining stake in Siemens Healthineers through a direct spin-off last November. It currently stands as the world’s fourth-largest medtech company, bringing in more than $24 billion in annual revenue.

Seabra, meanwhile, joined Siemens Healthineers in 2001, holding a number of roles with the company. He previously held responsibility for financial performance and business growth, regional operations and customer-facing activities.
From 2015 to 2018, Seabra led the company’s Western Europe and West Africa regions. He took over as head of Enterprise Services eight years ago. A current resident of Portugal, Seabra plans to relocate to the U.S.
